Our client in Glasgow requires a Marine Personnel Assistant to join their Personnel department and effectively carry out various Marine personnel changes for various assigned vessels.

The Successful Applicant

• 2 x Highers
• 1-2 years in a marine environment.
• Experience in multi-national crewing and requirements for seafarers
• Good knowledge of flag requirements and other statutory requirements for seafarers
• Excellent Interpersonal skills
• Highly Organised

Desirable

• University Degree, preferably in HR or General Business.
• Previous experience working within seagoing HR team for a ship management company.
• Shipping HR related legislation; STCW, MLC

Job Description

The purpose of the Personnel Assistant is primarily to plan, deploy and effect Marine personnel changes for assigned vessels.

Main Responsibilities

• To perform the crew payroll and ensure timely payment of crews wage
• Attend to and follow up email queries from finance/agents/marine personnel with regards to crews wages remittances and related matters
• Maintain bank details of crew beneficiaries
• Liaise with ship masters on the monthly submission of ship statement of accounts for month end closing and reconciliations.
• Liaison with external parties such as port and recruitment agents for marine personnel related operational matters.
• Ensure correct certification and documentation in place with recruitment agents
• Monitor and effect marine personnel development plan
• Monitor the appraisal / assessment of marine personnel performance
• Administer ship manager system as per company’s procedures
• Ensure compliance to all regulatory requirements and company policies pertaining to Marine Personnel
• Make scheduled visit to assigned vessels for marine personnel matters
• Other duties as may be assigned by Manager and Management
