Our client requires a Personnel Officer to join their team in Glasgow.  As the Personnel Officer you will directly responsible for scheduling officers to assigned fleets, ensuring that the company’s vessels are manned with competent, qualified and suitably experienced personnel.

  • Knowledge of Shipping HR related legislation; STCW, MLC
  • Previous experience working within seagoing HR/Logistics team for a ship management company
  • University Degree, preferably in HR or Business

Job Description

  • Identify vacancy requirements
  • Responsible for reporting vacancies to the Marine resource department
  • Identify potential candidates for future requirements and ensure follow up
  • Maintain officer scheduling for assigned fleets, ensuring compliance with charterers matrix and vessels budget
  • Direct liaison with operations and technical departments on manning issues
  • Direct liaison with officers regarding assignment and any personal issues or requirements
  • Maintaining off-signers report and utilising this to schedule and plan for vessels assigned
  • Monitor on call and review to ensure minimum on call costs
  • Liaison with the operations / technical departments and where applicable Senior Management and/or Client regarding the assignment of personnel aboard company managed vessels.
  • Attend and input to operational meetings and reporting as and when required, to meet strict deadlines
  • Routine supervision of the external manning agents and liaising with external manning agents on crew being assigned to company’s vessels.
  • Liaison with the training department to ensure officers attend training courses as required
  • Participate in the on-call roster for out of hour’s coverage, offered by the personnel department.
  • To be able to carry out internal or external audits as required
  • Other tasks, administrative duties and ad hoc project related work as directed by the Team Leader HR.
