Technical Superintendent (slow speed)

Grapefruit Recruitment is looking for a Technical Superintendent who reports to the Fleet Manager

Tasks include

• Complying with IMS and ISM code
• Monitoring the vessels performance, shipboard maintenance and repair programmes
• Ensuring that statutory and classification requirements are followed
• Monitoring of the “Vessel Maintenance System”
• Supervising the shipboard working organization and especially in respect of company policy regarding overtime
• Monitoring the respect of resting hours in accordance with international rules and regulations
• Monitoring of spare parts & stores request from vessels
• Reporting to Fleet management any current issues relating to Speed & Consumption, Operational Performance, Technical Matters, & Class & Flag State Surveys.
• Preparing Vessel’s budget
• Approving orders, invoices and payments up to limit of authorisation.
• Conducting regular vessels inspections
• Inform the Deputy/Fleet Manager of non-conformities issued, and deal with them.
• Planning in due time statutory and classification surveys to maintain the validity of statutory and classification certificates.
• Notifying classification societies and the Flag Administration, in case of deficiencies arising on the vessel(s) if the case may be
• Monitoring the lube oils and fuel oils quality and consumptions, in relation with vessel safe operation and performance.
• Preparing and organizing the maintenance and repairs during ship’s trade, without interfering with vessel commercial availability.
• Building up and filing the damages cases in relation with Legal Dept.
• Appraising Senior Officers – except for French Flag “Fleet 1”
• Prepare dry-docking specifications, evaluating tender documents and manage the vessel dry-dock. Accountable for the dry dock works and costs performance.

Skills and Qualifications Required

• Technically competent with various software programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc…
• Technical environment knowledge
• Analytical and creative problem solving skills
• Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based environment
• Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
• Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
• Perfect knowledge of the vessels and vessels systems
• Adept at conducting research into project-related issues
• Ability to manage conflicting priorities of key stakeholders
• Experience as deep sea CE with slow speed propulsion preferred
