We are looking for a highly motivated Crew Manager to lead our clients’ Crewing Department in Germany.  This role is primarily responsible to ensure assignment of qualified and competent sea staff in accordance with the company's policies and procedures.

The Successful Applicant

  • A minimum 5 years’ experience of the functions of Ship Crew Manning, Human Recourses (HR) and Fleet Personnel Handling
  • A sound knowledge of STCW, MLC 2006, ITF and relevant international manning, and flag state requirements, including CBA, etc.
  • An understanding of Employment structures (offshore employment) and applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA's) - Maintain Manpower roster's and schedules for vessels under their control
  • Ability to carry out internal audits as required
  • Work experience at sea as a Senior Bridge, such as Ch. Officer or Master Mariner
  • Demonstrated experience in Business Administration, Crew Management and HR
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing crewing strategies
  • Rights to live and work in the EU

Job Description

Responsibilities:  

  • Reporting to the Managing Director (or Fleet Director)
  • In overall charge of all functions of Fleet Personnel Operations of assigned group vessels to fulfill the ship’s Manning requirements
  • Maintaining communication with Principals, Owners, Technical Department, Agents and other stakeholders
  • Crew Budgets: Preparing and reviewing crew budgets for submission. To liaise with Principals regarding Crew Budget Variance report.
  • Providing timely and accurate reports to clients and senior management regarding the performance, expenditure and update on FP matters
  • Setting clear goals and expectations, proactively putting in place performance outcomes, company’s values and procedures for FP team
  • Attending meetings and preparing management reporting as and when required, to meet strict deadlines
  • Liaising with the training department on scheduling of training courses for personnel under their responsibility
  • Developing New Businesses for the Company
  • Overseeing, monitoring and controlling the manning agents
  • Handling and following-up any Crew medical and P&I insurance cases
  • Actively developing and contributing for achievement of the Company goals & KPI figures
  • Treating safety and environmental compliance as a top priority
  • Contribute in carrying out the Company strategy and aim with main focus on own function areas
  • Following up budgetary and monetary matters, such as Crew Salary, CTM, etc.
  • Following Crew matrix and strict compliance with Crew certification as per STCW, MLC, etc.
  • In charge of Union Agreements (as applicable)
  • Arranging Crew Seminars in coordination with the other Head of Departments
  • Supporting the Fleet Director and the Technical/ Marine/ Nautical/ HSEQ  team in all Crewing related matters
  • To be a part of the Company Contingency and Emergency Response team with 24/7 telephone scheme
