Grapefruit Recruitment has been asked to recruit a Crew Manager for one of its Global clients based in Germany.

As Crew Manager and reporting to the Fleet Director, your main responsibility will be to ensure all sea going staff are competent in accordance with both company and regulatory authorities policies and procedures. In addition, you’ll oversee all personnel functions for their assigned vessels. Tasks include: Crew Budgets, liaising with training providers and scheduling of training courses, handling medical and P&I claims, following crew matrix with regards to STCW Certification, MLC and Flag State requirements and compliance and support the Fleet Director, Technical and HSEQ departments when necessary.

To be considered for this position, you’ll need a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role and need to have worked on board vessels as a Senior Deck Officer, having carried out audits, along with an excellent understanding of CBA’s (Collective Bargaining Agreements), ITF (International Transport Federation) negotiations and international manning and Flag State requirements. You must also be able to demonstrate your ability in crew management, business development and HR matters.

It is essential that all candidates are fluent English speakers and due to the location of this position, must live and have the right to work in the EU.
