Our client is looking for candidates with a marine background to work in a largely shore based role in the busy port of Southampton. The role is to deliver port operation plans on a duty basis with a heavy focus on safety, service delivery and efficiency. Ideally candidates will hold a fork lift truck licence. This is a great opportunity for a permanent position with one of the biggest port operators in the UK.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Close liaison with the port duty managers and VTS. The service delivery operatives will be involved in berthing of allocated vessels, gangway installation, site safety audits and land side infrastructure.
  • This position is based on a staggered shift system and working hours may rotate on a week by week basis.
  • Due to the nature of the job we can only consider candidates close enough to the port to travel each day or those willing to fund their own accommodation.
Experience required:

Essential

  • Self- motivated with good communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Good working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements, with ability to produce, update and issue SSOW and Risk Assessments as required
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation in all aspects of work.
  • Flexibility with regards to working hours and duties.
  • Forklift Truck licence Desirable
