General Job Description


Supplier Quality Engineer required to investigate, analyse and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analysing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects.

The Successful Applicant

Essential:

  • Previous working experience in manufacturing or technical role
  • Able to make quality / reliability engineering judgements under pressure
  • Working knowledge of 8D, SPC or Control Charts
  • Must have a methodical approach to problem solving
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Must be willing to travel to meet with various global suppliers

Desired:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, science, quality or technical discipline
  • Work experience in a high reliability industry e.g. nuclear, military, space, automotive
  • Engineering/Quality experience of mechanical, electrical, electronic, PCB & PBA materials
  • IRCA approved auditor
  • Previous experience with SAP or JIRA

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure supplier quality issues are prevented or resolved with little or no impact to production.
  • Monitor SQM KPI’s & investigations database to identify supplier performance trends.
  • Introduce containment, corrective & preventive actions in a timely manner.
  • Authorise concessions in line with company requirements.
  • Function as a member, or at times as leader, of cross-functional quality investigation/improvement teams

Tasks:

  • Auditing suppliers to drive process standardisation & continuous improvement.
  • Leading teams (incl. suppliers) to conduct RCA, develop preventive action plans & determine liability.
  • Visiting suppliers to resolve quality problems.
  • Investigating & recommending the disposition of nonconforming materials.
  • Providing written reports, metrics and engineering documentation as necessary.
  • Reviewing ‘First Article Inspection Reports’ for completeness and fulfilment of technical requirements
  • Developing longā€term supplier relationships, aimed at improving quality & cost reduction
