Our London based client is seeking an experienced engineer with a background in marine engineering. The Freighter & Marine Engineer will manage cable loading and vessel mobilization teams in sometimes challenging working environments.

The Successful Applicant

The successful applicant should have good knowledge and be competent in the below skills:

• Hydraulic engineering
• Welding
• Electrical systems
• Steel construction and fabrication
• Vessel stability
• Shipping
• Design of submarine cable handling equipment
• Project managing the redevelopment of the marine operational equipment also improvements to cable handling equipment
• Design of cable tank and vessel layout for loading and discharging of cable and wet plant for ships of convenience
• Chartering vessels of convenience 
• Working in close conjunction with Project Mangers planning cable ship and freighter operations
• Project managing vessel conversion and design of vessel
• Coordinating operational support through local suppliers for all ship activities
• Superintendent for ship conversion works
• Project managing loading operations
• IT skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Auto Cad)

Job Description

• Design, construct and manage freighter conversions for the purposes of trans-shipment of telecommunications cable and Subsea plant as required by the business.
• Manage cable transfer operations to and from cable depots.
• Responsible for the maintenance of the cable depots and equipment in accordance with the respective sub-plant handling and storage guidelines.
• Provide support to the landfall operations department for shore end operations as required
