Key Accountabilities of a Senior Consultant Engineer:

Leading and executing the effective delivery of technical projects within their business line, as well as helping sustain and develop the business through business development support and technical sales effort. Specific requirements include:

  • Deliver and manage technically challenging projects in line with contract specified targets, resources and budgets.
  • Offer credible technical solutions and providing clear, concise and accurate reports/recommendations to clients.
  • Contribute to the expansion of the business.
  • Continuous improvement in all necessary systems, processes and procedures relevant to the professional management of the business
  • Provide technical mentoring to more junior technical and operational staff.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of relevant technical techniques, best practices and statutory requirements, through appropriate means, i.e., review of periodicals, attendance at conferences/user groups, etc.
  • Assist Operations Managers in consolidation of regional business and financial results. Critically when acting as Project Manager, providing up to date and accurately weekly forecasts to Operations Managers on the financial performance and resourcing requirements.
  • Assist Operations Managers in managing contract delivery responsibilities, including delivery of target margin.
  • Provide support for recruiting, managing, training, developing, and motivating staff to perform and deliver to the quality required to meet client's deliverables.
  • Interface with the corporate organisation and other service lines as required to provide other groups' opportunities within the area of operations.
  • To champion awareness and delivery of an HSE, environmental, legislative & regulatory requirements; in addition to any Clients expectations.
  • Help ensure all staff execute duties safely and that adequate training is identified, organised and undertaken as required by Plant Asset Management or Client HSE requirements.

Performance Factors required for the Senior Consultant Engineer:

  • Ensure financial and technical performance of projects when acting as project manager.
  • Ensure consistent and appropriate technical quality is provided into projects.
  • Support Business Development in preparation of technical aspects of proposals.

Maintaining and developing client relationships.

  • Awareness of corporate standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Responsible to ensure that own utilization is maximised and identifying line management when available for deployment on new work.
  • Strong vision as to how maintenance and integrity can truly add value to the maintenance management process: who can manage and deliver maintenance strategy development projects, undertake maintenance auditing and performance improvement and have the drive and ability to work with demanding international clients to achieve this vision.

Knowledge and Experience requirements for the Senior Consultant Engineer:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent preferably having, or working towards, corporate membership of a relevant Professional Institution.
  • At least 10 years' experience in industry.
  • Effective team leadership skills, able to manage multi-discipline consultancy teams.
  • Willingness to travel and work at client sites throughout the world for periods of up to a few weeks at a time.
