Instrumentation and Telecom Engineer

Faststream has partnered with a global Oil and Gas Industry leader that is looking for an Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer.

The Instumentation and Electrical Engineer role will be based in Houston.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities for the Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer:

Participate in all phases of Projects from concept development, tender, bids, FEEDs, construction, commissioning, execution, modification to completion

Participate in designing the FPSO, including:

o Develop and contribute with input to philosophies and design specifications for instrumentation & automation systems

o Ensure the design meets regulatory, class, client and corporate requirements

o Develop utility and topside instrumentation and automation design

o Develop material take-off and cost input for Instrumentation and Electrical discipline

o Give input to the master equipment list

o Perform pre- and detail engineering for field instrumentation and automation systems

o Prepare and contribute with input to instrument and equipment specifications

Participate in and actively contribute to Instrumentation and Electrical discipline activities and provide input to develop and maintain company engineering standards and best practices within the field

Coordinate, plan and schedule Instrumentation and Electrical activities to ensure a logical sequence and timely preparation, review and revision of all related documents

Actively contribute to the development of relevant RFQ's for module yards, integration yards, newbuild shipyards and equipment packages and prepare technical bid evaluations (input)

Follow-up with design development, construction and testing activities

Review vendor documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements

Proactively support and cooperate with all engineering disciplines to achieve optimal design results including relevant input and comments to other discipline deliveries

Work closely with and actively support supply chain, estimation, planning and other project teams

Provide technical clarifications towards clients, sub suppliers, class and yard

Support Technical Maintenance & Support team, Operation Managers and offshore units as and when required, including visiting Units in operation as needed for technical support and troubleshooting


Education required for the Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer:

Bachelor's or Master's degree Engineering

Long relevant experience may replace formal education


Experience required for the Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer:

Ideally 3-10 years of relevant experience within the shipping and offshore industry

Previous experience within the FPSO, FLNG, or FSRU industry is an advantage


Knowledge skills required for the Instrumentation and Telecom Engineer:

Knowledge process and utility instrumentation and automation systems

Knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS)

Fluent in English (oral and written)

The position may require temporary assignments at project premises or on board units

The position may require heavy travel and long working hours during peak periods
