HVAC Spervisor (Contract)

HVAC SUPERVISOR
Basic Occupational Competence:

Degree or similar qualification in Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) with the relevant application training and experience in the marine/ offshore engineering/ construction fields.
Extensive project management and architectural experience in a marine/ offshore or shipyard environment.
Computer literate, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project etc. Basic Safety Requirement:
Basic Safety Induction and Emergency training
Certificate for Medical Fitness (UKOOA and Norway or equivalent)


Basic Experience:

Relevant experience in accommodation construction and outfitting management, in the shipbuilding, ship repair or oil and gas industries.


Detailed knowledge of:

*HVAC system design, materials, insulation, sizing, damper control mechanisms
*Construction and outfitting methods and standards
*Associated legislation and Classification rules - DnV, United Kingdom Health and
Safety Executive (UKHSE), IMO, NFPA, NORSOK, NMD/ NMA and PSA

Management experience of the construction and outfitting of HVAC systems within machinery, accommodation and recreation areas onboard vessels and offshore structures. A working knowledge of renovating existing machinery, accommodation and recreational spaces onboard marine vessels and offshore structures. Well versed with the supervision of outfitting HVAC within refurbished and new areas.


Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, well-organised and able to take initiative.


Primary Objective
Overseeing outfitting and commissioning of the HVAC in the machinery spaces, modules, existing areas, accommodation/ recreation and office facilities.


Job Description


Definition

The role of the HVAC Supervisor is a predominantly yard based position, with a long-term placement at the construction/ refurbishment site.



The HVAC Supervisor will assist with, review and provide practical input during the detailed engineering of the new modules, accommodation (modified), and machinery spaces (new and existing).
They will attend inspections, factory acceptance tests (FATs) of equipment that will be installed in the vessel, ensuring defects, carryover work and punch items are suitably completed and/or recorded for future close-out.
How the supplied items affect the completion of the vessel will be reviewed and incorporated into the workpacks and schedule.


During the yard phase, they will review the yard proposals for suitability, adherence to the specifications, drawings, regulations and budget.

Completion and Commissioning
Coordinate and liaise with the Project Commissioning/ Completion Manager on all HVAC activities relating to completion of the machinery, recreations and accommodation areas. Ensure site team assistance in the process of completion activities, e.g. pre-commissioning and commissioning (B and C scopes).
Ensure that the construction documentation registers are up to date and complete.


Other responsibilities of the HVAC Supervisor include, but are not limited to, the following activities:

*Provide practical solutions to undefined engineering/ unforeseen technical difficulties.
*Process commissioning queries
*Provide input into planning and execution strategies for the completion activities
*Review and approve technical documentation (red-lines and as-builts) provided by yard and subcontractors
*Supervise yard/ subcontractor personnel during the commissioning period
*Provide familiarisation and handover to operations personnel
*Give input to help improve the commissioning process
*Compile warranty and certificate dossiers for handover to operations personnel
