We have partnered with a Global Oil and Gas Industry leader that is looking for an Senior Instrument Technician to be responsible for full project life cycle management.
The Senior Instrument Technician position will be based in Houston.
Responsibilities for the Senior Instrument Technician:
- Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls, calibrates and tests a wide variety of industrial instrumentation that record, indicate, control and regulate level, flow, pressure, temperature and position.
- Troubleshoots telemetry and process controller hardware, maintains functional knowledge of the operation of the telemetry system software and hardware.
- Makes periodic preventative maintenance inspections of all metering control instruments, diagnoses existing or potential trouble; cleans, lubricates, calibrates and adjusts as conditions indicate.
- Lays out, installs and places into service new metering, controlling and recording devices, calibrating as required; may extend or connect related electrical circuits.
- Reads and interprets wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and specifications in making installations or performing major repair work.
- May make estimates of labor, materials, and supplies as necessary for the performance of specific assignments.
- Keeps records; makes verbal and written reports of work performed.
- Troubleshoots more complex telemetry, SCADA and PLC software and hardware issues, makes recommendations and performs software changes and maintains documentation of changes to the software and hardware.
- Performs and repairs and testing work requiring higher-level knowledge, skills and abilities and serves as a technical resource to others.
- Reviews engineering designs and modifications to control systems and recommends both technical and operational improvements.
- Demonstrates commitment to the Responsible Care system. Effectively communicates the policies and procedures of Responsible Care to stakeholders. Promotes Responsible Care throughout the Company.
- Interacts and communicates with clients and co-workers in a professional and appropriate manner and responds to and gives feedback in a respectful and positive manner.
- Takes the initiative to identify problems, uses judgment to find appropriate solutions and follows through on resolving issues in a timely manner.

Requirements for the Engineering Project Manager:
- High School Diploma
- Instrument Technician Certification
- Instrumentation Society of America (ISA) Control Systems Technician Level 2 Certificate (CCST2)
- Minimum 7 years' experience as an Instrument Technician
- Skilled in both mechanical and electro mechanical repairs or electronic circuitry repair
- 2-4 years' experience working on industrial instrumentation and controls
- Knowledge of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition)
- Knowledge of electrical codes
- Knowledge of tank truck and railcar rack design
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software
- Customer service focus
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with customers and co-workers; ability to write reports/documents
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently with general direction from supervisor
- Travel is required 30% of the time.
