We are currently seeking an experienced Hotel and Boat Motorman to join the luxury cruise vessel Orient Express Olympian.

  • Embarkation: 01 April 2027
  • Contract: 6 months ±1 month

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Fitter on board cruise ships
  • All valid STCW certificates
  • Good command of English
  • Valid references and/or recommendations from previous employers

Description and Main Purpose of Job:
The Hotel & Boats Motorman is a specialized day-work rating responsible for maintaining small boat engines and providing technical support for hotel, galley, laundry, and waste management machinery. Operating under the Hotel Engineer, this role ensures the readiness of safety craft and the continuous operation of domestic services, and performs any additional general technical duties as reasonably required.

Key Responsibilities

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Marine Equipment & Operations: Maintain, troubleshoot, and test the engines and mechanical systems of lifeboats, Pascoe tenders, and Zodiacs. Perform bunkering of these crafts as needed and conduct dedicated morning pre-departure inspections for any boats scheduled for passenger or operational use that day.
Hotel, Galley & Laundry Equipment: Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on catering and domestic machinery located in galleys, pantries, and the laundry, and sanitize drinking water fountains.
Waste Systems Machinery: Operate and maintain food waste processing equipment (galley pulpers, piping circuits, and vacuum pumps) as well as garbage handling machinery (glass crushers, cardboard balers, and compactors).
Routine Rounds & Reporting: Conduct comprehensive daily and weekly (Sunday) inspection rounds across all assigned marine and hotel equipment. Complete mandatory checklists, maintain assigned workshops, and promptly report any defects to the Hotel Engineer.  Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to Permit to Work (PTW) and Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) procedures when intervening on mechanical or electrical equipment and ensure compliance with work and rest hour regulations.

Participate in shipboard emergency duties and drills in accordance with the vessel’s muster list and emergency procedures
Take reasonable care for their own health and safety and for that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions
Cooperate with management on health and safety matters Use correctly all work items provided by the Company, including personal protective equipment, in accordance with training and instructions
Not interfere with or misuse anything provided for health, safety, or welfare ·         
Abide by environmental protection rules and regulations and actively participate in the reduction, reuse, and recycling schemes in place All employees shall participate actively in all HSEQ activities and promote safe practices as part of an integrated management approach.
