We are currently seeking an experienced Wiper to join the luxury cruise vessel Orient Express Olympian.
- Embarkation: 01 April 2027
- Contract: 6 months ±1 month
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Fitter on board cruise ships
- All valid STCW certificates
- Good command of English
- Valid references and/or recommendations from previous employers

Description and Main Purpose of Job:
The Wiper is an engineering rating primarily responsible for the continuous cleaning, painting, and general housekeeping of the engine room and other designated technical spaces. Operating under the Staff Engineer, the role also provides essential manual and logistical support to the Engine Department, including assisting the Fitter with daily tasks and supporting the Storekeeper during stores loading and port operation. Performs any additional general technical or cleaning duties as reasonably required.
Key Responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Cleaning & Housekeeping: Carry out daily cleaning, degreasing, painting, and general upkeep of all machinery spaces, workshops, and other technical areas as directed by the Staff Engineer, ensuring a clean, safe, and hazard-free environment.
Maintenance & Workshop Assistance: Provide manual assistance to the Fitter and engineering officers during routine maintenance, dismantling of machinery, and general workshop tasks when requested.
Logistics & Storekeeping Support: Assist the Storekeeper with the manual handling, sorting, organization, and securing of technical stores, including active participation in the heavy lifting and loading/unloading of spare parts during port calls.
Operational & Port Support: Participate in engine-related port operations, bunkering preparations, sludge transfers, garbage handling/segregation within the engine room, and general deck/engine teamwork.
Safety & Compliance: Comply strictly with all safety instructions, isolation procedures, and the correct use of PPE. Ensure personal compliance with work and rest hour regulations while actively contributing to pollution prevention measures.

Participate in shipboard emergency duties and drills in accordance with the vessel’s muster list and emergency procedures
Take reasonable care for their own health and safety and for that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions
Cooperate with management on health and safety matters
Use correctly all work items provided by the Company, including personal protective equipment, in accordance with training and instructions
Not interfere with or misuse anything provided for health, safety, or welfare ·
Abide by environmental protection rules and regulations and actively participate in the reduction, reuse, and recycling schemes in place All employees shall participate actively in all HSEQ activities and promote safe practices as part of an integrated management approach.

Work Experience Requirements

Language Requirements
Good knowledge of the English language is required.
Certificates and Qualifications
Mandatory STCW certificates are required from all applicants.
