We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Electrician to join the luxury cruise vessel Orient Express Olympian.
- Embarkation: 01 April 2027
- Contract: 6 months ±1 month
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Fitter on board cruise ships
- All valid STCW certificates
- Good command of English
- Valid references and/or recommendations from previous employers

Description and Main Purpose of Job:
| The Assistant Electrician is a specialized day-work rating responsible for the maintenance, repair, and continuous operation of electrical systems across passenger, crew, and catering areas. Operating under the Chief Electrician, the role ensures guest comfort and equipment reliability by managing assigned vessel zones, providing rapid emergency response through a dedicated night on-call rotation, and performing any additional general technical duties as reasonably required.
Key Responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Zone Ownership & Maintenance: Take dedicated ownership of assigned shipboard zones (specifically dividing accommodation, galleys, pantries, and public spaces with the second Assistant Electrician) to perform daily inspections, corrective and preventative maintenance on LV systems.
On-Call & Emergency Response: Participate in a shared night on-call rotation, remaining constantly reachable via shipboard communication devices to provide immediate, courteous troubleshooting for passenger cabin electrical faults and critical hotel/catering equipment failures.
Galley & Hotel Equipment Support: Provide primary electrical troubleshooting and repair services for all catering machinery, laundry equipment, and domestic appliances, ensuring prompt resolution of defects to minimize disruption to the Hotel Department.
Housekeeping & Inventory: Maintain electrical workshops and tool lockers in a clean, highly organized, and sea-fast condition. Monitor stock levels of common electrical consumables and promptly report replenishment needs to the Chief Electrician.
Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to electrical safety protocols, Lock-out/Tag-out isolation procedures, and Permit to Work requirements, while ensuring personal compliance with work and rest hour regulations.
Health, Safety and Environment Duties and Responsibilities:
All employees have a duty under Company Policies and VMS requirements to: Participate in shipboard emergency duties and drills in accordance with the vessel’s muster list and emergency procedures Take reasonable care for their own health and safety and for that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions Cooperate with management on health and safety matters Use correctly all work items provided by the Company, including personal protective equipment, in accordance with training and instructions Not interfere with or misuse anything provided for health, safety, or welfare ·
Abide by environmental protection rules and regulations and actively participate in the reduction, reuse, and recycling schemes in place All employees shall participate actively in all HSEQ activities and promote safe practices as part of an integrated management approach.

Work Experience Requirements
All applicants must have previous experience in working on ships.
Language Requirements
Good knowledge of the English language is required.
Certificates and Qualifications
Mandatory STCW certificates are required from all applicants.
