Sea-Eye is looking for a
RHIB Lead + Bridge Watchkeeper (double role, m/w/d)
We are a civilian aid organisation founded in 2015 in response to people dying in the Mediterranean Sea. We search for people in distress on the world’s deadliest refugee route and fight against the daily loss of life at sea with our rescue boat. We are convinced:

For our upcoming rotation from mid-July to mid-August 2026, we’re looking for an experienced RHIB Lead who can also take on the role as Bridge Watchkeeper.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely operate and lead the RHIB during SAR operations, including launch and recovery procedures and during rescues.
- Organize RHIB operations, maintenance of the RHIB and its equipment, and facilitate RHIB trainings and team building
- Maintain overall situational awareness and ensure quick, decisive leadership during rescue operations.
- Step into other RHIB roles (Driver or Communicator) as needed.
- Stand independent bridge watches as part of a rotating watchkeeping schedule, assuming full responsibility for the safe navigation of the SEA-EYE 5, collision avoidance, communications, and the overall safety of operations during the assigned watch.
- Monitor radar, ECDIS, and other navigational systems.
- Coordinate with relevant maritime assets and maintain effective communications.
- Follow COLREGs, GMDSS procedures, and emergency duties as assigned.
PROFILE
- Extensive prior experience in RHIB and SAR operations.
- Proven ability to lead RHIB operations in high-pressure SAR environments.
- Valid SBF-See licence or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience as a certified Bridge Watchkeeper (e.g. OOW, Yachtmaster Coastal, or equivalent).
- Good knowledge of radar, ECDIS, COLREGs, and GMDSS.
- Valid Short Range VHF Certificate and STCW Basic Safety Training.
- Fluent in English.
