A Field Service Engineer is responsible for the service, installations, commissioning and maintenance for vessels' safety, communications, and navigation systems. The FSE's task is to analyse technical problems, provide solutions and repair equipment in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out installation and commissioning, integrate and test existing and new products on board or at shore.
  • Carry out maintenance and repair of equipment on customers’ vessels.
  • Provide technical support to customers and the company’s sales, other engineers and/or customer service.
  • Perform surveys and inspections of ship radio communications and radio navigational installations.
  • Be available for reasonable out-of-hours service work, sometimes at short notice. Overtime is payable.
  • Complete all documentation in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Education and experience in Marine Electronics and/or Electronic Engineering.
  • Experience in a service industry and in-depth knowledge of the maritime community.
  • Practical fault-finding experience on complex equipment, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to ships' schedules and jobs.
  • Communication skills to liaise with coordinators, agents, crew, captains, and superintendents.
