This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable ship management company based in Glasgow.

The role of the HSEQ superintendent consists of being part of a highly motivated group, and is responsible for all aspects of technical management of assigned vessels and to contribute to a reliable, safe and cost effective operation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and ensure Company vessels are operated safely in compliance with local and international regulatory and statutory maritime frameworks such as ISM, ISPS, MLC, MARPOL.
  • Ensure on-board compliance with the company’s SMS, new regulations and Class requirements.
  • Travel or sail with the vessels for inspections/audits when necessary.
  • Monitor and report on new or current legislation impacting ship operations.
  • Identify areas for improvement and evaluate and improve vessel performance.
  • Drive implementation of Management of Change for marine matters.
  • Respond to and close out near miss reports; review and update risk assessments as required.

Requirements

  • Ideally at least 1 year experience in a similar shore-based role.
  • Seagoing experience up to the rank of Chief Officer or Master on tankers.
  • Hold a Class 1 Master Mariner Unlimited or Chief Mate Unlimited licence.
  • Good team worker with a drive for continuous improvement and sound knowledge of ISM, ISPS and related frameworks.
  • Willingness to travel worldwide for vessel inspections.
  • Expected to live within reasonable travelling distance of Glasgow.
