Navis are working on an opportunity across a large-scale cruise ship newbuild programme, working within a modern, project-driven engineering environment.

This role is suited to a professional with deep expertise in electrical system installation, inspection, and commissioning for cruise vessels, who is looking to play a key role in high-value, technically demanding projects.

Responsibilities

As a senior electrical specialist, you will take responsibility for supervising and verifying electrical installation and construction activities on-site. Acting as a technical reference point, you will engage with shipyard teams, suppliers, and project stakeholders to ensure all systems are delivered in line with design intent and regulatory standards.

The role is primarily based in Papenburg, with periodic travel to supporting production facilities across Europe.

  • Oversee installation and construction quality of electrical systems during vessel build phases
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation related to electrical and automation systems
  • Carry out inspections, testing, and commissioning support, including FATs, harbour acceptance, and sea trials
  • Ensure adherence to class rules, project specifications, and environmental standards
  • Support design validation, approval processes, and final handover of systems
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and yard personnel to resolve technical issues and maintain build progress

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven track record within shipbuilding, marine engineering, or related sectors (e.g. classification societies, OEMs, or engineering consultancies)
  • Hands-on experience with installation, inspection, and commissioning of marine electrical systems
