Navis are working on an opportunity across a large-scale cruise ship newbuild programme, working within a modern, project-driven engineering environment.
This role is suited to an experienced electrical professional who brings both technical authority and a forward-thinking approach to delivering next-generation passenger vessels.
Responsibilities
As a senior specialist in electrical systems, you will serve as a key interface among internal engineering teams, external partners, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. The position focuses heavily on the delivery, integration, and verification of advanced onboard systems.
Your responsibilities will include oversight of installation and commissioning activities for:
- Entertainment and multimedia systems (including AV, LED installations, theatre and broadcast systems)
- Passenger-facing and operational IT infrastructure (networks, server environments, structured cabling, Wi-Fi and communications)
- Safety and security technologies such as CCTV and electronic monitoring systems
You will also contribute to broader project phases, including design validation, approval processes, harbour and sea trials, and final vessel acceptance. Post-delivery technical support may also be required depending on project needs. Occasional travel to partner shipyards, primarily in Poland, should be expected.
- Review and interpret complex electrical and automation documentation, drawings, and technical specifications
- Carry out inspections, surveys, and commissioning activities across build stages, including FATs and sea trials
- Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards throughout construction and testing
- Provide technical guidance and act as a subject matter expert across multidisciplinary teams
Requirements
You will bring a strong foundation in marine or offshore electrical engineering, combined with hands-on experience in complex newbuild or retrofit environments.
Essential Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent professional experience)
- Significant experience within shipbuilding, marine operations, classification, or specialist marine suppliers
- Demonstrated involvement in installation, inspection, and commissioning of electrical or integrated systems
Personal Attributes:
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accountability
- Proactive, resilient, and capable of working autonomously
- Comfortable engaging with shipyards, subcontractors, and technical vendors
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence across functions
Benefits
- Long-term contract on a major European shipbuilding programme
- Exposure to technically advanced cruise vessel projects
- Opportunities for continued involvement in future newbuild initiatives, subject to performance and project pipeline
- A collaborative and international working environment where contributions directly impact project outcomes
