Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) (Permanent) – Ferries | Harwich

We’re proud to represent a leading international ferry company seeking an experienced Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) to join their crew on a full-time, permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities

As an Electro-Technical Officer, you will:

  • Provide operational support to ship management teams, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective vessel operations within the electro-technical discipline
  • Maintain and ensure the safe operation of all electrical and technical equipment onboard
  • Manage identified risks to the vessel, personnel, and environment, implementing appropriate safeguards
  • Act in accordance with duties outlined in the vessel’s safety organisation
  • Develop, operate, and maintain the Planned Maintenance System for electro-technical equipment
  • Provide emergency call-out support for critical systems, including safety and essential operational equipment
  • Assist with onboard electro-technical projects and upgrades
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and emerging technologies
  • Support dry dockings, refits, and emergency repairs, including safe Lock Out/Tag Out procedures
  • Assist in the organisation and efficient running of the electro-technical function under the Chief Engineer’s direction

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must hold:

  • STCW Elementary First Aid
  • STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting
  • STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities
  • STCW Personal Survival Techniques
  • STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft & Rescue Boats (PSCRB)
  • STCW Seafarers with Designated Security Duties
  • High Voltage Certification – Management Level
  • Valid right to work in the United Kingdom

Preferred:

  • Electro-Technical Officer CoC (III/6)
  • Crowd Management Training
  • Passenger Safety Training
  • Previous experience onboard passenger or ferry vessels (highly desirable)
