Engineer Officer of the Watch – Ferries | United Kingdom

We’re proud to represent a respected maritime company seeking a qualified Engineer Officer of the Watch (EOOW) – Unlimited to join their engineering team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled marine engineer who takes pride in maintaining high engineering standards, safety, and reliability onboard modern vessels.

The position operates on an even-time rota of three weeks on / three weeks off, providing an excellent balance between time at sea and time ashore.

Key Responsibilities

As an Engineer Officer of the Watch, you will:

  • Maintain a safe and efficient engineering watch in accordance with company and regulatory procedures.
  • Monitor and operate main propulsion machinery and auxiliary systems.
  • Carry out routine inspections of engine room equipment and report any defects or abnormalities.
  • Assist with planned maintenance and repairs to vessel machinery and engineering systems.
  • Support bunkering operations and ensure compliance with environmental procedures.
  • Participate in all statutory drills and emergency procedures as required by the muster list.
  • Maintain accurate engine room logs and machinery records.
  • Work closely with the Chief Engineer and other engineering officers to ensure the vessel operates safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and corrective maintenance when required.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must hold:

  • Engineer Officer of the Watch (EOOW) – Unlimited Certificate of Competency
  • Valid ENG1 Medical Certificate
  • STCW Basic Training, including:

- Personal Survival Techniques
- Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities (PSSR)
- Elementary First Aid
- Fire Prevention & Firefighting
- Full right to work and reside in the United Kingdom

Desirable (Not Essential)

The following certificates would be advantageous, although training can be provided to the right candidate:

- Designated Security Duties (DSD)
- Relevant Passenger Ship Certificates
- Endorsed Second Engineer Certificate up to 3000kW
