The role of the Assistant HSEQ Superintendent consists of being part of a highly motivated group, responsible to the HSEQ Manager, assisting the HSEQ Superintendents in regards to marine operations and safety matters, providing marine support to the Technical Superintendents as required.

Responsibilities

  • Understudy the duties of the HSEQ Superintendent in preparation for promotion to that position
  • Carry out Projects as assigned by Senior Management
  • Coordination of Vetting activities and maintaining vetting records
  • Perform shipboard audits to achieve and maintain accreditation in accordance with legislative requirements
  • Perform remote navigational audits as required
  • Assisting with accident and/or incident investigations and preparing associated report(s)
  • Provide limited cover for HSEQ Superintendents during periods when they are travelling on business or during holiday periods
  • Assist in ensuring Company vessels are operated safely in compliance with local and international regulatory and statutory maritime frameworks such as but not limited to: ISM, ISPS, MLC, MARPOL, etc.
  • Responding to and closing out near miss reports as required
  • Reviewing risk assessments and updating as required

Requirements

  • Seagoing experience as Chief Officer (preferred) would also consider highly experienced 2nd Officers
  • Experience sailing on Tankers or Dry Cargo (preferred)
  • Must be good team workers and have a drive for continuous improvement
  • Must have good working knowledge of ISM, ISPS etc
  • Must be willing to travel worldwide for vessel inspections
  • Due to the requirements of the job, the successful candidate will be expected to live within reasonable travelling distance of Glasgow
