Senior Superintendent Level | Hamburg | Container Fleet

We are supporting a leading international shipmanagement organisation in Hamburg in the search for a Fleet Manager at Senior Superintendent level. This is a high-responsibility leadership role overseeing a defined fleet within a global container operation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all vessels within your assigned fleet are technically operational, compliant with international regulations and managed within approved budgets
  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of Superintendents and support staff, driving efficiency, accountability and safety performance
  • Take full ownership of technical performance, cost control and docking strategy across the fleet
  • Monitor vessel KPIs, identify performance gaps and implement corrective measures
  • Act as primary interface with classification societies, flag states and relevant regulatory bodies
  • Translate management requirements into operational execution across your fleet
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, cost efficiency and compliance

Requirements

  • Several years’ experience in ship management at Senior Superintendent, Chief Superintendent or Fleet Manager level
  • Extensive seagoing background as Chief Engineer or Second Engineer
  • Degree in Marine Engineering or equivalent technical qualification
  • Strong commercial awareness with proven budget management capability
  • Confident leadership style with the ability to manage cross-functional teams
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel internationally and engage directly with vessels and stakeholders
