We are supporting a well established international ship-management company in Hamburg in the search for a Crew Development Manager to strengthen their cadet and officer development framework across the fleet.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the company’s cadet strategy, aligning workforce planning with long term fleet requirements
  • Identify, attract and build a strong pipeline of cadets in cooperation with maritime academies and training institutions
  • Act as the primary contact and trusted mentor for cadets throughout their development journey
  • Monitor development progress, assess training needs and support structured career pathway planning
  • Plan and organise officer conferences and in person learning initiatives
  • Support the design and delivery of training programmes and capability building initiatives across the fleet
  • Ensure onboard training standards align with company culture, operational expectations and regulatory requirements
  • Continuously evaluate and improve training quality using industry best practices
  • Collaborate closely with Crewing, Technical and HSQE departments to support vessel performance and retention

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Maritime Studies, Human Resources, Education, Organisational Psychology or a related field
  • Minimum two years’ experience in maritime training, crew development or talent management
  • Cadet programme exposure highly desirable
  • Understanding of international maritime regulations including STCW and related standards
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across multicultural environments
  • Fluency in written and spoken business English
  • Additional training certifications such as Train the Trainer are advantageous
  • Seagoing management experience is beneficial but not essential
