Entry Level - Inspection Support Operative (terminals)

Our client is a leading inspection, verification and testing company who have agreements with most of the refineries, tank storage and terminals covering the UK.

Our client is looking for a Inspection Support Operative to join their team in Essex.

Main Purpose of Role
* Provide support to the Inspection department by assisting with basic inspection duties at the request of the operations team. Basic responsibilities will be (but not limited to) ship/shore tank sampling, retail petrol forecourt sampling, collection of samples from various locations, sample delivery, collection/delivery of documentation to/from vessels and supervision/stock control of inspection department storage container.

Skills & Knowledge
Essential
* Ability to carry out physically demanding work, the majority of which is outdoors on a 24/7 rota.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision whilst still delivering services to the timescale and standards expected.
* Ability to work to tight and often conflicting deadlines to meet client requirements.
* Competent in using the Word and Excel software.
* A good level of numeracy and literacy.
* Good communication skills - both verbal and written.

Desirable
* Knowledge of COSSH
* Understanding of Oil & Chemical storage and transfer procedures.
* Understanding of critical sample taking procedures.

Experience
Essential
* Experience of working in an industrial environment.
* Experience of dealing directly with clients and answering queries.

Desirable
* Experience of Oil and Chemicals industry, particularly oil / chemical products, storage and handling facilities.

Qualifications
Essential
* GCSE: Maths & English (grades A to C) or equivalent.
* Full UK driving licence.

Desirable
* International Federation of Inspection Agencies Exam.
* A level: Maths & one science based subject, or equivalent.
