To ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of all engine room machinery, machinery spaces, and deck equipment in compliance with Company requirements, statutory regulations, the Safety Management System (SMS), and UK maritime regulations.

Responsibilities

Maintenance & Safety

  • Maintain all machinery and equipment in accordance with Company and statutory requirements, ensuring accurate records are kept.

  • Ensure safe and efficient technical operation of the vessel.

  • Conduct regular machinery space inspections and ensure emergency equipment is fully operational.

  • Maintain cleanliness of engines, bilges, and workshops.

  • Minimise accidents, breakdowns, and inspection deficiencies.

Leadership & Training

  • Lead and manage the engineering team, promoting teamwork and a strong safety culture.

  • Ensure compliance with SMS, safety routines, drills, and environmental regulations.

  • Ensure engineering personnel are properly certified, trained, and effectively deployed for watchkeeping and maintenance.

Administration & Cost Control

  • Arrange engineering watches and duty rosters to meet statutory and operational requirements.

  • Maintain accurate logs, Oil Record Book, and maintenance records.

  • Control stores, spares, fuel usage, and bunkers; order supplies as required.

  • Prepare repair lists and technical specifications for surveys, refits, and dry-docking.

  • Control costs while maintaining machinery reliability and efficiency.

Requirements

Essential Qualification:

  • UK Chief Engineer Officer of the Watch (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency (CoC)
