Third Engineer (Temporary Contract) – Multi-Purpose Vessel | United Kingdom

Join a respected ship owner operating specialist multi-purpose vessels undertaking critical Buoy and Lighthouse Maintenance operations around the UK coastline. We are seeking an experienced Third Engineer to join one of their vessels on a temporary contract from 14th January to 4th February.

This role is ideal for a qualified EOOW with experience in complex, safety-critical operations who takes pride in maintaining reliability, compliance, and high engineering standards at sea.

Key Responsibilities

As Third Engineer, you will:

  • Assist the Chief and Second Engineer with the safe operation, monitoring, and maintenance of all engine room machinery and auxiliary systems.
  • Stand engineering watches in line with vessel procedures and operational requirements.
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to support specialist buoy and lighthouse maintenance operations.
  • Support fault-finding and repairs on propulsion, generators, hydraulic, and deck support systems.
  • Maintain accurate engine room logs, maintenance records, and defect reports.
  • Assist with bunkering and fuel management as required.
  • Ensure compliance with the vessel’s Safety Management System (SMS), ISM Code, and company procedures.
  • Participate in all statutory drills, emergency response duties, and safety exercises.
  • Promote safe working practices and contribute positively to onboard teamwork.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must hold:

  • EOOW Unlimited Certificate of Competency – STCW III/1
  • STCW Basic Training
  • Valid ENG1 medical certificate
  • Full right to work and reside in the United Kingdom
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Availability for the full contract period 14th January – 4th February
