The Vessel
REV Ocean is unlike any other ship. It is equipped with some of the most sophisticated facilities onboard for carrying out cutting-edge ocean science, as well as offering charter opportunities designed to integrate exploration, adventure, and science. REV Ocean will operate as a research vessel for 2/3 of the year and be available for charters for 1/3 of the year.
We are looking for experienced 2nd Engineer ( watch keeper ) for REV OCEAN as follows:
- Joining Date: January/2026
- Wage: in EUR/per month worked only + NIS flag benefits provided by the Owner
- Contract Length: 1:1 rotation
- Management level Certificate is mandatory - STCW Reg.III/2
The 2nd Engineer is an engine officer and is responsible for managing the engineering spaces during shifts. The role will include other duties as designated by the Chief Engineer or 1st Engineer.

Safety Duties:
- Participates in crew safety drills according to instructions.
- Must always comply with the Company’s safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures.
- Leads by example by taking care of Health and Safety of self and others.
- Ensures that all work equipment, personal protective equipment, chemicals and safety devices are being used correctly. Delivering training, guidance and supervision on how to use and maintain them where necessary.
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
- Valid STCW certification.
- Valid CoC A-III/2.
- Appropriate certification as required by regulations.
- Extensive experience in junior positions and on board passenger ships in a similar role and preferable experience with Wartsila engines.
- Physically and medically fit.
- Moral integrity is required.
- USPH, Sanitation and Environmental training courses are appreciated.
- Proficient in reading and understanding technical drawings and manuals.
Language requirements:
Excellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. Additional languages are considered beneficial.
Computer knowledge:
Good working knowledge of onboard computerised planned maintenance programs and Microsoft applications.

Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities and duties include:
· Comply with the ‘Standing orders of the Chief Engineer’.
· Be familiar with all emergency procedures and duties. Assist in emergency situations as required.
· Partake in emergency drills and training as and when required.
· Be aware of QHSE in all tasks and operations and report any issues, discrepancies, accidents, or incidents immediately to the Bridge.
· Operation and management of all machinery and technical spaces during watch.
· Maintenance and condition of machinery as delegated by the Chief Engineer or 1st Engineer.
o Boilers and associated systems – fuel system, fuel burner, boiler water treatment
o Analyzers and treatment of water systems – engines cooling water systems (LT / HT), Airconditioning Systems – Chilled water / Reheating Water systems
o Separators – fuel oil and lube oil
o Bilge water separator
o Sludge system
o ORB
o Bilge / Sludge offload systems (landing ashore)
· Ensure logbooks are updated as applicable.
· Assist in troubleshooting faults and problems, providing repairs when possible. Or if in doubt, call the Chief Engineer.
· Actively participate in safety meetings when required .
· Maintenance, upkeep, orderliness and cleanliness of the engine room and engineering spaces on board.
· Weekly and daily checks and tasks in accordance with Standing Orders of the Chief Engineer and instructions.
· Maintain records and reports on technical equipment including records of maintenance and repair work, and running hours.
· Assist in the management of spare parts, tools, equipment, and consumable inventories for the engineering department.
· Ensure jobs and tasks are carried out in as safe way and according to vessel PTW/RA system.

All applicants must have previous experience in working on ships.

Certificates and Qualifications
Mandatory STCW certificates are required from all applicants.
