This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established ship management company with a strong reputation in the container sector. We’re seeking an experienced Newbuilding Superintendent to support and oversee a series of upcoming newbuild projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and successful delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Review and comment on ship designs and specifications
  • Approve project drawings
  • Stay up to date with the latest technical developments and shipbuilding technologies
  • Assess technical solutions and suppliers regarding maintenance costs, maintainability, durability, regulatory compliance and day-to-day usability
  • Review and compare technical agreements before maker selection
  • Liaise with classification societies, flag state administrations and regulatory bodies
  • Negotiate specifications, system drawings and participate in 3D model reviews in cooperation with the Head of Department and/or owners’ representatives
  • Attend sea trials and major equipment FAT
  • Support, coordinate and oversee site teams
  • Report to the Head of Newbuilding and Projects

Requirements

  • Completed studies in Marine Engineering
  • Longstanding experience in a senior seagoing position (Chief Engineer or 2nd Engineer)
  • Ideally previous experience as part of a newbuilding site team at a shipyard
  • Basic knowledge of business administration (e.g. reporting, budget planning)
  • Strong communication skills with fluency in English (German preferred)
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to adapt to different cultures within the international shipbuilding market
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel internationally
