Master (<3000GT) – Ferries | United Kingdom (Contract)

Join one of the UK’s most respected ferry operators and take command at the heart of a trusted and experienced maritime team.
We’re proud to represent a ferry company seeking a qualified Master (<3000GT) to join their crew on an initial 3-5 month contract, with the potential for a permanent position thereafter.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced maritime professional with strong ship handling skills and a passion for safe, efficient vessel operations.

Key Responsibilities

As Master, you will:

  • Take overall command of the vessel, ensuring safe navigation, operation, and management at all times.
  • Lead and motivate the crew, promoting a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations, company policies, and maritime legislation.
  • Oversee voyage planning, navigation, and communication with port authorities and company management.
  • Manage vessel manoeuvring during berthing and unberthing, particularly with twin screw propulsion systems.
  • Maintain accurate records, including ship’s log, safety drills, and maintenance documentation.
  • Conduct regular safety drills and inspections to ensure the vessel remains ready for any emergency.
  • Represent the company with professionalism when dealing with passengers, port personnel, and inspectors.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must hold:

Master <3000GT Certificate of Competency (STCW II/2) or Higher

Valid STCW Basic Training certification

Valid ENG1 medical certificate

Previous ship handling expeirence.

Experience handling twin screw vessels is highly desirable

Full right to work and reside in the United Kingdom
