The Vessel
REV Ocean is unlike any other ship. It is equipped with some of the most sophisticated facilities onboard for carrying out cutting-edge ocean science, as well as offering charter opportunities designed to integrate exploration, adventure, and science. REV Ocean will operate both as a research vessel and expedition vessel.

The motorman/oiler is part of the Engineering Department on board REV. This role carries out planned and routine maintenance tasks and cleaning of machinery parts as directed and assists the EOW as required.

Language requirements:
Excellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. Additional languages are considered beneficial.

4. Ability to handle multiple demands, remain calm and effective under pressure and resolve issues quickly.
5. Safe, professional and personal practices. Well acquainted with VMS and MLC requirements.

7. Ability to work in confined spaces.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and Duties·
Be a part of the technical crew to achieve REV Objectives (safety, quality and environmental).
Be familiar with all emergency procedures and duties. Assist in emergency situations as required and or instructed.· Partake in emergency drills and training as and when required.
Report any damages, irregularities, deficiencies and or issues to the on-duty engineer.· Follow daily schedules, planned maintenance requirements and unplanned tasks as directed and required.· Report any damages, irregularities, deficiencies and or issues to the on-duty engineer/ your supervisor.
Comply with health and safety procedures and protocols.· Maintenance and cleaning duties in the Engine room spaces.

Competency Requirements
The Motorman must have the competency as required by REV Ocean Operational Department’s competence matrix.

Line of Reporting
Report to the 1st Engineer/EOOW
