This is an excellent opportunity to join a global ship management company in their Cruise Department based in Southampton. The company are experiencing a sustained period of expansion and this is the perfect to time to join.

You will have responsibility for the management of the maintenance and upkeep of the hotel areas of a cruise ship. Activities are carried out with the support of the Vessel Manager and specialist Superintendents. Close liaison with the Owner’s representatives and ship’s crew.

Responsibilities

Project and Refit Management

  • Plan, prepare, and execute hotel-related projects, including dry dock and wet dock refits.
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and quality control for all assigned hotel and facilities projects, ranging from minor tasks to refurbishments.
  • Act as the main point of contact for projects, liaising with the ship’s crew, Owner’s representatives, colleagues and contractors.

Maintenance and Operations

  • Provide expert support to the ship’s crew for repairs and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to maximise the reliability and longevity of hotel systems and equipment, including galleys, laundries, and cabins.
  • Oversee the planned maintenance system, tracking deficiencies and coordinating the delivery of necessary spare parts and services.

Quality and Safety Assurance

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of the vessels to monitor the technical condition of hotel facilities.
  • Ensure that all maintenance and project work adheres to the highest standards of safety, quality, guest experience and crew welfare.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including Public Health legislation, SOLAS, Flag State, Classification Society and safety management system.

Financial and Budget Management

  • Create and manage budgets for maintenance and capital expenditure.
  • Work with the Owner’s representatives, procurement team and suppliers to manage contracts, costs, and quality.

Leadership and Communication

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including Owner’s representatives, shipboard management and colleagues.
  • Work independently and manage contractors during maintenance periods.
  • Maintain strong communication with the ship’s crew, Owner’s representatives and colleagues.

Requirements

  • A recognised qualification in marine engineering, naval architecture, or project management.
  • Maintenance management experience in a hotel, cruise ship, or yacht setting.
  • Project management, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing budgets and Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment.
  • A strong knowledge of SOLAS, Flag State and Classification Society rules.
  • A talented and proven people manager, who is able to lead and influence a diverse and remote workforce.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and through presentation of data in reports.
