This is an excellent opportunity to join a global yacht management company as Yacht Manager / DPA. The office is in the North East but can consider a hybrid working model.
The Yacht Manager is responsible for the overall management, compliance, and operational performance of a portfolio of yachts under management.
Responsibilities
As the Designated Person Ashore (DPA), the Yacht Manager ensures that all yachts operate in full compliance with ISM, ISPS, MLC, and other applicable maritime regulations, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and guest service. This role acts as the primary liaison between the vessel, owner, and management company.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of assigned yachts, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.
- Support Captains and crew with technical, operational, and logistical matters.
- Coordinate and approve yacht movements, maintenance schedules, and refits.
- Monitor vessel performance, budgets, and crew management to ensure compliance with management agreements.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the company and the vessel for all safety and pollution prevention matters.
- Conduct safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments; ensure findings and corrective actions are implemented.
- Ensure all vessels meet flag state, class, and port state control requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in yacht or ship management, with at least 2 years in a similar role.
- DPA qualification (ISM Code compliance and safety management).
- Strong knowledge of ISM, ISPS, MLC, and international maritime regulations.
- Seagoing experience as a senior officer (Master, Chief Officer) preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and yacht management software systems.
- Fluent in English (both written and verbal).
Desirable:
- Class 1 / 2 Certificate of Competency
- Experience with both private and charter yachts over 500GT.
- Additional safety or management qualifications (e.g., Company Security Officer).
