We’re proud to represent a leading name in UK ferry operations, currently seeking an experienced 2nd Engineer / Relief Chief Engineer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional with Passenger Vessel experience and a Chief Engineer Unlimited CoC who’s ready to take on a dynamic and rewarding role within a highly respected organisation.

Key Responsibilities

As 2nd Engineer, you will:

  • Support the Chief Engineer in all aspects of engine room and technical operations.
  • Take ownership of your designated areas, ensuring smooth daily operations and compliance with company standards.
  • Carry out maintenance and repair tasks in line with the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the vessel’s technical systems and operational procedures.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to the vessel, crew, and environment, implementing proactive safety measures.
  • Report promptly any incidents, defects, or hazards to the Chief Engineer, ensuring timely corrective action.
  • Adhere to all Safety Management System (SMS) requirements through the DOCMAP platform.
  • Demonstrate initiative and leadership beyond your rank, actively developing readiness for future advancement.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must hold:

Chief Engineer Unlimited CoC
STCW basic training (PST, PSSR, PSCRB, Designated Security Duties)
Valid ENG1 medical certificate
Proven experience as an Engineer onboard ferries or passenger vessels
UK residency and full right to work in the United Kingdom
