Responsibilities

 

As Chief Engineer aboard a dredging vessel, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of all engineering systems on board. Your main duties will include:

• Managing and supervising the engine room and all technical operations.
• Leading the engineering crew, assigning tasks, and ensuring safety compliance.
• Monitoring, maintaining, and repairing main engines, dredge pumps, generators, hydraulics, and auxiliary equipment.
• Conducting routine inspections, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting.
• Maintaining up-to-date maintenance records in accordance with Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS).
• Overseeing bunkering operations and managing fuel, oil, and water usage.
• Ensuring compliance with MARPOL, ISM, and company safety/environmental procedures.
• Coordinating with the Master and shore-based technical teams.
• Conducting emergency drills and ensuring all firefighting and lifesaving equipment is operational.
• Managing spare parts inventory and liaising with suppliers when necessary.

 

Requirements

• Certification:
  • Chief Engineer Unlimited UK CoC/CeC
  • STCW (PST, Fire Fighting, First Aid, PSCRB)
  • Advanced Fire Fighting
  • Medical First Aid
  • High Voltage (Management level)
  • Security Awareness & Designated Duties
