We are currently recruiting for a Contracts Manager to support the Marine division within our clients Central Government business stream. Reporting to the Senior Contracts Manager (CG), the primary aim of this role is to deliver a full contracts service to the Marine Capability area of the Defence BU, and to participate in effective management of contractual risk across the contract base. A specific key component of the role will be to ensure that best practice is applied to bids (including contract changes through tasks) and sub-contracts in accordance with Company and Divisional policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Play an important role in ensuring compliance across UK Central Government and specifically the Marine BU in accordance with Serco Management System particularly with respect to contract management.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies, processes and systems as required.
  • Liaise effectively with key stakeholders within BU, Customer and Legal and Contracts team in Hook.
  • Work with bid and operational teams, and where appropriate within bid teams, to develop contractual positions which optimally balance the division`s exposure to risk with its appetite to win.
  • Contract drafting and amendment of additional service requests and contract change notices. Appraisal of 3rd party subcontracts terms and conditions.
  • Lead handling of claims and disputes as required and develop best practice in dispute avoidance.
  • Provide contract advice as required including interpretation and resolution of contractual issues and participate in contract negotiations with SDMS and MOD end customer as required.
Experience required: To achieve in this role you will already have developed a career as a Commercial Contract Manager and possess strong experience of building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Experience of working within the marine industry is vital to succeed in this role, as is the ability to work on complex contractual proposals for the public sector.
