A leading Cruise line is looking for Physiotherapist’s who will be responsible for assessing, treating, and rehabilitating musculoskeletal injuries among crew members, while also supporting injury prevention efforts in collaboration with the ship’s Medical and Safety teams.

Responsibilities

1. Clinical Care & Injury Management

  • Assess and treat musculoskeletal injuries under the supervision or referral of the ship’s Doctor.

  • Monitor and support Tele-PT patients and track compliance and progress.

  • Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date records for all assessments and treatments in SeaCare or equivalent EHR systems.

  • Provide individualized and group rehabilitation plans and monitor patient outcomes.

  • Coordinate treatment schedules and follow-up in conjunction with the Senior Doctor.

 

2. Preventative & Ergonomic Training

  • Deliver Ergonomics Awareness Training (SQM 8.26) to high-risk departments:

    • Food Service

    • Food Preparation

    • Housekeeping

    • Entertainment

  • Conduct pre-shift stretching and warm-up exercises in coordination with department heads.

  • Observe high-risk work activities and provide real-time corrections and coaching.

  • Identify repetitive stress or manual handling risks, documenting trends and recommending improvements.

 

3. Safety and Collaboration

  • Actively participate in injury prevention programs and collaborate with the Safety Officer and Staff Captain.

  • Participate in and support shipboard safety meetings, audits, and drills.

  • Maintain a proper inventory of therapy supplies and request resupply through medical logistics.

 

4. Administrative & Reporting Tasks

  • Complete and submit physiotherapy medical reports and crew documentation.

  • Provide administrative support to the onboard medical team when required.

  • Coordinate scheduling of physiotherapy sessions, training, and safety presentations.

  • Ensure confidentiality of medical records and personal health information.

 

5. Emergency Duties

  • Participate in lifeboat and emergency drills unless officially excused.

  • Be available on-call with a handphone to respond to any shipboard emergency involving physical injuries.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience as a Physiotherapist.

  • Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent from an accredited institution.

  • Valid and current professional license from country or state of origin.

  • Intermediate to advanced English fluency, both spoken and written.

  • Proven experience in workplace ergonomics, injury prevention, or occupational health is preferred.

  • Strong patient engagement and injury case management skills.

Work Conditions

  • Must be able to work 7 days per week during contract.

  • Must live in shared accommodations aboard the vessel.

  • Must be capable of responding to shipboard emergencies and performing basic life-saving duties.

  • Carries a radio/handphone at all times while on duty or on-call.

Physical & Safety Requirements

  • Able to walk long distances, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Able to perform emergency duties, including stretcher team responsibilities.

  • Must be adaptable to work in indoor/outdoor settings with changing temperatures.

  • Capable of working in confined spaces and adjusting to schedule changes.

  • Must pass the STCW basic safety training (Standard of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping).

  • Full use of limbs, clear vision, and the ability to receive/give instructions during emergencies.

 

Documentation Required Upon Boarding

  • Valid Physiotherapy Degree/Diploma

  • Current professional license (must remain valid throughout contract)

  • Continuing education or post-graduate credits if applicable
