A leading Cruise line is looking for Sound Technicians to oversee the safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all sound systems in entertainment venues across the ship. They support live shows, events, rehearsals, and guest entertainer needs, ensuring optimal sound quality and system functionality.
Responsibilities
1. Sound Operations
-
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot audio equipment in various venues.

Set up/strike sound systems for shows, events, theme nights, and group functions.
-
Collaborate with guest entertainers and performers to meet audio requirements and update show files.
-
Preserve the technical and artistic integrity of all produced entertainment per original design.
2. Maintenance & Inventory
-
Perform regular maintenance on speakers, racks, filters, and cooling systems per schedule.
-
Inspect venues bi-weekly and keep maintenance logs up to date (AMOS).
-
Ensure HVAC airflow to racks and monitor for leaks or hazards in technical rooms.
-
Maintain backup parts and update schematics when system changes are approved.
3. Administrative Duties
-
Attend meetings and maintain updated inventory, records, maintenance logs, and backups.
-
Keep all show files and passwords securely stored and shared with relevant supervisors.
-
Test and log new or repaired equipment upon arrival.
-
Use company-approved communication and ensure compliance with all policies.
4. Coaching & Development
-
Train Technical Stage Staff and Lounge Technicians for skill development and advancement.
Requirements
Qualifications
-
Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Technical Theater or Audio preferred.
-
Experience: Minimum 2 years in FOH mixing, system maintenance, and live event audio operations.
Skills & Knowledge
-
Proficient in analog and digital sound consoles.
-
Skilled in FOH and monitor mixing, microphone placement, and system setup/teardown.
-
Capable of maintaining and troubleshooting audio equipment (consoles, speakers, racks, outboard gear).
-
Experience with musical theater and show control systems preferred.
-
Understanding of computer networking and audio-related software.
-
Strong teamwork and communication skills; works well with performers and technical staff.
Physical & Language Requirements
-
Must pass company medical evaluation.
-
Able to lift/move up to 50 lbs and fully participate in emergency drills.
-
Fluent in spoken and written English; able to give and follow detailed instructions.
