Pritchard-Gordon Tankers Ltd. are currently recruiting for a Marine Superintendent/Deputy DPA to join the Operations Department of our Boldon Colliery Office.

Company Description

Pritchard-Gordon Tankers specialises in ocean transportation of crude oil, refined petroleum products, chemicals and biofuels in environmentally sensitive areas, using purpose built, shallow draft, double hull tankers. We are one of the very few specialist fully integrated British Tanker owning and operating companies trading under the UK Tonnage Tax regime. We currently have 11 vessels predominantly trading in the wider Caribbean area. Two new build vessels recently joined the fleet in 2025, with a third scheduled for delivery in the third quarter 2026.

The Company is managed and run by a team of experienced specialists in their chosen fields of sale and purchase, tanker chartering, vessel operations, marine engineering and vessel design.

Marine Superintendent/Deputy DPA

Work Location

Employment will primarily consist of office-based working at our Boldon office in the North East of England. Overseas travel, including sailing onboard Company vessels, will be required for audits and ship inspections. Travel will predominantly be to the wider Caribbean region, although this may vary depending on the vessels’ trading areas. Occasional travel to internal and external seminars may also be required.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role you must have previously sailed as Chief Officer onboard tanker vessels. You must hold an unlimited Chief Mate II/2 Certificate of Competence as a minimum, with an unlimited Master II/2 Certificate of Competence preferred. You must have recent employment within the maritime industry, with strong knowledge of the ISM system and current and upcoming maritime regulations. You must have the right to work in the UK to be considered for this role and be able to commute to our Boldon office.

Responsibilities

As Marine Superintendent/Deputy DPA you will be responsible for:

  1. Ensuring compliance with all Company policies and requirements relating to MARPOL SEEMP I, II and III, including all EU regulations and the EU Emissions Trading System.
  2. Management of fleet energy efficiency by ensuring carbon intensity indicator (CII) compliance.
  3. Assisting the DPA with Company and vessel Safety Management System Audits, to include navigation and security audits.
  4. Completing charterers questionnaires and all associated forms.
  5. Issuing safety and operations fleet circular letters, as directed by the DPA.
  6. Maintaining fleet OCIMF SIRE HVPQ, including vessel photographs, certification, and pre-inspection questionnaire.
  7. Assisting the DPA in arranging vessel SIRE and CDI inspections.
  8. To act as deputy Company Security Officer (CSO).
  9. Assisting the DPA as required and to deputise in their absence.

As Marine Superintendent/Deputy DPA with Pritchard-Gordon Tankers you will be expected to form an integral part of a unique, well established, hands on, and committed team working within our Boldon office.

Work Experience Requirements
