Marine Purchaser – Part time – Rotterdam – Competitive package
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Marine Purchaser on a part time basis to join a reputable ship owner based in Rotterdam, supporting container ship operations. Looking for someone who would be interested to work on a 50%-70% part time basis.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and coordinating the timely delivery of spare parts, provisions, and technical supplies essential for vessel performance and compliance. This role is crucial in ensuring cost-effective procurement while maintaining operational efficiency across our fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement Operations:
Source and purchase marine spare parts, stores, provisions, and consumables for container vessels in accordance with technical specifications and budgetary constraints. - Supplier Management:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and service providers globally to ensure quality, availability, and competitive pricing. - Order Processing:
Manage purchase orders from initial requisition through to delivery, ensuring timely dispatch and accurate documentation. - Logistics Coordination:
Arrange worldwide delivery of goods to vessels in port or at sea, including customs clearance and freight forwarding coordination. - Inventory and Cost Control:
Monitor stock levels, optimize inventory holdings, and support cost-saving initiatives in collaboration with technical and operations departments. - Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure all procurement activities are in compliance with company policies, industry standards, and maritime regulations. - Stakeholder Communication:
Liaise effectively with vessel superintendents, ship captains, technical teams, and finance departments to ensure smooth operations and transparency.
Experience Required:
- Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in marine purchasing or maritime supply chain, preferably with a focus on container vessels.
- Strong knowledge of marine spare parts, international shipping logistics, and vessel operations.
- Experience with marine ERP systems (e.g., AMOS, ShipNet, or similar).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in English; Dutch and/or other European language skills are a plus.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
