Position Summary: 2nd Officer

The 2nd Officer is a Licensed Watch Keeping Officer responsible for maintaining safety, security, and environmental standards while on duty. They may stand their own watch if deemed fit by the Master.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Watch-standing: Ensure safety regulations are followed, monitor alarms, and conduct safety rounds. Report significant events to the Master/Staff Captain. Make decisions on engine room orders, ensuring safety and reporting to the Master if necessary. Follow Navigation Policy, SOPs, and Master’s orders. Ensure adequate rest as per regulations.
At Sea: Maintain discipline on the bridge and ensure all watch personnel perform duties.
In Port: Maintain radio contact with security, oversee mooring operations, and supervise tender operations for guests and crew.

Primary Duties:
Reporting: Report to the 1st Officer or Safety Officer during rest hours.
Safety Training: Assist the Safety Officer in training the crew for safety drills and duties.
Other: Attend meetings and training, and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Hiring Requirements: Officer in Charge of Navigation Watch (OICNW) certification and STCW training / Chief Officer COC ideal

Language Requirements: Proficiency in English (spoken and written). Additional languages (Spanish, French, German) preferred.

Expereince on board Cruise vessels
