Technical Engineer (Design) – Permanent – Southampton – £45k plus benefits

This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading maritime technical service provider based in Southampton.

The role of the Technical Engineer (Blanks/Design) is to ensure that projects are managed in accordance with the Quality Management system, Group Policies and marine industry standards.

Responsibilities include:

• To support the Technical Manager and Senior PM in the delivery of the Operations, Special Projects and Marine Construction Projects.
• To plan, supervise, manage and perform tasks such as but not limited to; feasibility studies, design studies, detail design
• Plan approval work, site supervision, specification writing, cost estimating.
• Monitoring the technical and financial performance of projects.
• To support the Technical Manager & Senior Project Manager in the development of technical and project management capability (people, processes and tools)
• Liaise with onsite customer to ensure expectations and requirements are met or exceeded.
• To have overall management of the signature Reduction Materials Application business stream, from initial enquiry to project closure

Experience Required:

• Engineering qualification in Marine / Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture.
• Hold a recognised Project Management qualification (Desirable)
• Computer literate with knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft Office Professional (including MS Project), also knowledge of bespoke design software i.e. AutoCAD, Mathcad, FEA.
• Experience in afloat ship repair on inshore/offshore diving projects is desirable
• You will be working closely with the Royal Navy so must have eligibility for Security Clearance up to UK Secret.
