QA & Safety Assistant – Permanent – Glasgow – Competitive package

This is an excellent opportunity to kick start a shore based career with a global shipping company based in Glasgow. This could suit a junior deck officer who has decided that life at sea isn’t for them and they would like to transfer their skills to an office based role.

Reporting to the QA & ISM Manager you will join a friendly and supportive Quality & Safety team.

Responsibilities include:

• Assist in administration of the company’s SMS database.
• Assist in preparation, issuing and revision of company manuals and documents in accordance with document control procedures.
• Assist in compiling initial supply of SMS manuals and security items for new vessels into management.
• Assist in administration and implementation of office safety culture and procedures.
• Attend company vessels for crew training in SMS procedures.
• you will attend training courses to expand your understanding of ISM, MARPOL, ISO 9001, ISO14001, auditing, incidents investigation, media response handling and more
• Assist in preparation of quarterly HSE statistics and fleet performance KPIs
• Liaise with oil spill response and marine salvage and fire fighting companies to ensure coverage for vessels where required

Experience Required:

• Higher standard of education or experience within the marine industry.
• Seagoing experience as a deck officer is strongly preferred
• Experience and understanding in use of Microsoft Office suits: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point Programs
• Basic level of familiarity with ISM, ISPS Codes and MARPOL Convention is strongly preferred.
• A good standard of written and verbal English

You must have the right work in the UK to be considered. The role is hybrid with 4 days in office / 1 at home.
