The Port Engineer is to assist the Technical Superintendent in providing hands on support and expertise to the Milford Haven fleet

Responsibilities include:

• Provide practical engineering expertise, timely guidance, and recommendation of solutions to technical matters, including modifications to vessels.
• Monitor the PMS system on all vessels and assist engineers if required.
• Work with subcontractors and ensure quality of work.
• Ensuring the full technical readiness of all the vessels operated within the port of Milford Haven and assist in other local ports in an emergency.
• Assist the Technical Superintendent as directed in the management, planning and coordination of maintenance, regular service periods, dry-docks and upgrades through the designated service contractors / vessel crew as appropriate. Assist the Technical the control of the supply of equipment, Spares etc.
• Assist the Technical Superintendent in the coordination of surveys, inspections and certification ensuring that the vessels are fully operational in accordance with local, national, flag and classification society requirements

Experience Required:

• A thorough and demonstrable understanding of how the engineering and technical support impacts on the service commitment and a good understanding of customers and their requirements.
• Experience in Marine Engineering of a practical nature, afloat or in ship repair
• A Marine Fitters qualification or appropriate experience in a similar position in the commercial marine industry required.
• Demonstrate a high level of expertise in Marine fitting and welding. Conversant with small electrical repairs.

You must have the right to work in the UK and live within a 60 minute commute from Milford Haven.
