Marine Surveyor – Permanent – Central Scotland – up to £50k plus car and generous bonus

This is an excellent opportunity to join a long standing marine surveying and consultancy firm. We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Marine Surveyor. The ideal candidate will possess experience in conducting surveys, inspections, and assessments of vessel hulls, machinery, and related systems.

The role is homebased in central Scotland and involves domestic travel and sometimes International.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct thorough surveys and inspections of vessel hulls, machinery, and equipment to assess their condition, integrity, and compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  • Identify and evaluate structural defects, mechanical failures, corrosion, and other issues affecting vessel hulls and machinery.
  • Prepare detailed survey reports outlining findings, recommendations, and remedial actions required to address any identified deficiencies or non-conformities.
  • Collaborate with shipowners, operators, insurers, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and classification society requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to clients on matters related to vessel construction, repair, maintenance, and safety.
  • Conduct risk assessments and damage surveys in the event of marine incidents, accidents, or insurance claims.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Hold a Class 2 Marine Engineer CoC (Preferred)
  • Proven experience as a Marine Surveyor specializing in Hull & Machinery inspections (Preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of marine engineering principles, ship construction techniques, and classification society rules and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Full UK Drivers license
