Our Marine client is looking for a Technical Condition Assessment Manager to join them.

The Technical Condition Assessment Manager is responsible for reporting to the Techical Maintenance Manager. The Technical Condition Assessment Manager is specifically responsible for the oversight, management, and delivery of the various strands of condition assessment analytic solutions required to address potential long term condition issues fleet wide.

The role will focus on utilising the latest condition assessment and monitoring techniques alongside the Continuous Improvement strategy to maximise vessel availability, reliability and influence areas of maintenance and repair emphasis to support improvement in budget performance across the fleet management teams. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the internal Condition Assessment Team ensuring that the processes and procedures outlined in the Company Management System are followed.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

  • Preferably hold a suitable Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification and have experience in maritime or similar industry
  • Proficient in data analysis applications and typical reliability engineering and asset management software applications (eg. RAM tools, Reliability Analysis, FMECA / CMMS or equivalent systems)
  • Be able to demonstrate experience of Project Management & Implementation and an awareness of change management. Showing experience in planning, resource management and reporting
  • Previous experience of managing a team of Field Engineers
  • Deep knowledge of vessel surveying, including but not limited to hydraulics, electrics, oil analysis, dropped objects and ultrasonic and radar steel survey techniques
  • BINDT Vibration Analyst CAT II, BINDT Thermographer CAT II and BINDT Lubrication Management CAT I (Highly desirable)
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages, mobile technology and asset management systems
  • Budget management experience and cost control techniques
  • Strong leadership skills in relation to managing, developing and motivating small high performing teams
  • Project Management & Implementation and an awareness of change management. Showing experience in planning, resource management and reporting.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Provision of reports to Fleet Management Department and Vessel Crews for review, ensuring that all issues and concerns highlighted are scoped for inclusion into the maintenance plan.
  • Ensuring good management processes and procedures are in place to ensure high performance of a safe, reliable and efficient way of assessing and analysing the condition of the fleet. Ensuring these processes and procedures are compliant with the ISM code and regular reviews are carried out from a technical perspective with suitable change requests made as required.
  • Support the production of Condition Assessment Programme budgets for vessels’ investigation and analysis, and control internal and external costs in line with the agreed CAP budget.
  • Management of Condition Assessment information and trends captured by AMS and Defect Management System.
  • Implement condition monitoring capability on current and new vessels to maximise condition assessment efficiency.
  • Work with Technical Assurance Team to best visualise condition assessment data for identification and prioritisation of issues and risks highlighted by condition assessment programme.
  • Identification of work that could be conducted in mid-life refits of suitable vessels to improve their resilience in later life (20 – 30 years old and older).
  • Supporting future bid work, by understanding better likely costs associated with maintaining and managing the fleet for the period through condition assessment reports.
  • To manage the condition assessment team in order to conduct continuous surveys across the fleet using the available resources and capacities at their disposal. This would include; the management of contracts, responsibility for the safe operation of test equipment, assigning tasking to manpower including equipment distribution, contractor management including RAMS delivery and scheduling of reports as per the Condition Assessment Programme
  • Identifying and driving improvements to the Condition Assessment Programme and processes to build a framework that exploits multiple disciplines to be supported fleet wide. This would include; vibration analysis, oil sampling, thermographic surveys, dropped object surveys, steel surveys and void space/ballast paint survey
  • Supporting the Fleet Technical Reliability Operations Manager with provision of leading, rather than reactive data, by creating and managing condition assessment dashboards in consultation with the Engineering Information tea
  • Ensure all surveys carried out by the CAP Team minimise interruptions to the vessels timetable.
  • Mentor junior members of the CAP Team on functions and procedures in operation of the testing equipment; project supervision and assistance; Survey preparation and delivery and promoting personal and professional growth
  • Carry out regular vessel visits to reinforce awareness and understanding of the Condition Assessment Programme
  • Stakeholder management.
  • Support Continual Improvement processes and improve the processes and procedures for condition assessment and monitoring management, ensuring lessons are identified and learned post every event and shared and aligned with wider stakeholders
