Senior Electrical and Automation Engineer – London, United Kingdom – Permanent
The Senior Engineer is responsible for the activities related to an assigned organizational element, program, project, or task. Will normally plan, conduct, and supervise engineering design reviews and analysis assignments involving a major project or several smaller or less complex projects. These projects, by their complexity and difficulty, require the fully competent application of conventional knowledge in a specific engineering discipline.
What You Will Do:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership of Engineering staff assigned.
  • Assign projects to other Engineers and monitor the progress of all assigned projects.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality service and maintenance of good customer relations.
  • Perform detailed engineering review of plans for compliance with applicable Rules, Standards, Regulations, and contract requirements.
  • Devise new approaches to problems encountered and recommend changes in methods, procedures, or design where necessary.
  • Monitor the technical quality, content, consistency, continuity, and timeliness of action of all assigned projects.
  • Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of technical responsibility.
  • Perform engineering reviews and analyses when necessary.
  • Review other Engineers’ work and provide appropriate guidance and training when assigned and when necessary.
  • Advise assigned staff in matters related to applying Rules and Regulations.
  • Prepare written responses to clients in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain liaison with other engineering specialists internally and externally.
  • Monitor assigned engineers’ performance, development potential, and training needs.
  • Keep management informed of manpower needs.
  • Develop or assist in developing qualification statements, proposals, bids, and other presentation materials.
  • Implement and maintain the Company’s Quality System within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Prepare accurate billing for clients.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent in structural, civil engineering, or naval architecture.
  • Should have at least eight (8) years of experience in an appropriate technical discipline and/or industry.
  • Knowledge of related technical disciplines.
  • Knowledge of applicable Rules and Regulations and the impact of Rule applications and interpretations.
  • Knowledge of company business policies and procedures.
  • The human relations skills necessary to maintain positive client contacts and provide mentorship and motivation to subordinate staff and peers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex or unique engineering problems.
  • Ability to undertake short- and long-term planning to provide for efficient and effective scheduling of work assignments.
  • Needs to be familiar with the client’s Quality and Environmental Management System. (Internal candidates only.)
