Boat Finishing Team Leader – Permanent – South Oxfordshire

Our client is seeking a Boat Finishing Team Leader to spearhead the transformation of raw components into stunning production sets. Lead and motivate a 10-person team in delivering exceptional finishing work on high-end boats, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:

  • Manage and motivate a 10-person team of boat finishing specialists, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality output.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, promoting open communication and effective problem-solving.

Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee all stages of the finishing process, ensuring adherence to quality standards and deadlines.
  • Manage inventory levels and prioritize tasks to meet production deadlines.
  • Participate in project planning meetings, providing insights and recommendations from the finishing team perspective.
  • Ensure strict adherence to quality control standards and proactively identify potential issues.
  • Address concerns or issues raised by stakeholders, finding solutions that benefit all parties.
  • Generate and present reports to management, highlighting areas for improvement and demonstrating team progress.
  • Track and analyze offline production data, identifying areas for improvement and cost optimization.
  • Implement data-driven initiatives to enhance team efficiency and project profitability.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Partner closely with Logistics and other stakeholder managers to ensure smooth material flow and project alignment.
  • Address interdepartmental concerns and negotiate solutions collaboratively.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, quality, and cost.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in boat finishing, preferably with leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven experience leading and motivating production teams in a marine or similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of boat construction and finishing processes; automotive background or similar roles considered.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with effective communication skills.
  • Collaborative and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
