Head of Drilling and Marine

Faststream has partnered with a Global Oil and Gas Industry leader that is looking for a Head of Drilling and Marine.

The Head of Drilling and Marine position will be based in Houston, with extensive domestic and international travel.

Responsibilities for the Head of Drilling and Maritime position:

Global strategic responsibility for contracting/delivery of the company's drilling and exploration seismic activity:

• Rig contracting - responsible and accountable for ensuring company assets to secure access to rig capacity to enable forward exploration and development programmes.
• Seismic contracting - as above, fully responsible for delivering same forward position for marine and onshore seismic programmes as well as processing requirements, fundamental for company being able to grow its Exploration and Appraisal assets.
• Accountable for securing major contract awards to ensure delivery of key projects for company.
• Global Contract initiatives - responsible for and delivering successfully on globalising the company's approach to contracting for Well Engineering services and tangibles.
• Appraises key stakeholders within the business (EVPs, SVPs and AGMs) of Contract and Procurement performance.
• Drives early Contract and Procurement involvement to determine demand based strategic sourcing plans that enable company to optimise savings and value creation from its budgeted expenditure.

Qualifications for the Head of Drilling and Maritime position:

• Ability to interact with and influence senior managers, peers and direct reports.
• Broad knowledge of all types of contract forms available
• Good knowledge of contract law in the area of Well Engineering and Marine
• Strong working knowledge of Supply Chain methodology and practices
• Regarded as a subject matter expert within Drilling , Wells and Engineering and Marine
• Will have proven Contract and Procurement functional skills, with experience of working in an international environment and interacting with multi-cultural teams.
• Will have contributed to and led the implementation of complex contracting strategies and agreements which add value to the business.
• Proven track record of working with contractors and other stakeholders at top management level to co-create a shared agenda.
• Degree educated or equivalent (Chartered with the Institute of Purchasing and Supply, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or similar) with Contract and Procurement experience in at least one of the three Contract and Procurement disciplines within the oil and gas industry.
• Demonstrates full understanding of HSSE requirements.
• Highly developed quantitative and analytical ability.
• Excellent deal structurer with the tenacity and influencing skills to close complex high value agreements.
• Strong communication, influencing and inter-personal skills with the professional credibility and cultural sensitivity to represent the company.
• Proven effective networker with evidence of developing and building constructive working relationships.
